I appear to have been bumped...

[Er.. I only found out after posting this that fonts.. don't actually make that much difference on the actual

blog post. It looks terrible in the editor window though.]

Ah, what kind of example am I se--WHAT IS UP WITH THIS FONT PLEASE?!? ARGH, do I have to change EVERYTHING around here?! Wait, is this thing still on? Aw dammit.

Anyway, that looks better. I, uh, think this is what it should have been. Okay, now we can begin.

Ah what kind of example---...Oh, oh, now this is just great, isn't it? I press enter and all the.. *sigh* Wow, this sucks. *grumbles* Testing testing testing...

Right, working now? ...Oh, for God's sake. I give up. I'll just post in this font, annoying though it is. For some reason fonts appear to be defaulting to this, and revert when I press enter. Strange.

OKAY, NOW WE BEGIN:

Ah, what kind of examp-- OH, OH, WHAT THE HELL? YOU WANT TO WORK NOW?!? YOU'RE GIVING ME THE RIGHT FONT AGAIN RANDOMLY?!? OH, WOW, THIS IS JUST GREAT. JUST WHEN I GET USED TO THE OTHER FONT, AS WELL?!?

*sigh* I can't work under these conditions. And it just changed back as well. *cries*

Alright, I give up now, for real. Whatever the hell font it wants, I'll use.

Ah, what kind of example am I setting by not following my New Year's Resolution? It states quite clearly there that I must continue blogging. Hrm, well dang. It's been a hectic few months, anyway, so I've not had much chance. For starters, I've been attempting to set up a proper

blog at tamino.co.uk again - my Perplex City in-game blog . But that's not had much success yet - partly because I can't find a theme that I like, and partly because Perplex City has been delayed until June. *sigh*

I am, though, a straight A student. In all 5 mock exams that took place a few weeks ago, I got all A's. This scares me, given the rather terrible results that I got last year on my AS exams. And the results of the January module exams (Bloody hell, that was ages ago, have I really not updated for that long?) have been returned to me:

Physics - 90/90 - 100% - A
Further Maths [Mechanics] - 95/100 - 95% - A

So naturally I'm pretty pleased with these results. I'm predicted an A in every subject. *squee*. That is... provided I get this coursework finished. It's all due in for next Monday, and I have two things to do - the write up of my Electronics project, and task 3F on Computing. Task 3F, though, shouldn't take very long. It's just making and carrying out a test plan for the program I wrote. Simple stuff.

I also have an XBox 360. This has been one of the best purchases I've ever made, and I say this from the heart. I love it. I'm really getting into console FPS's as well. This time last month, I abhorred them. But now, I'm working through 3 - Prey, Gears of War, and Farcry - and am loving them. The controls seem a lot more natural than I first thought.

But, I'm kinda going off track. This was only meant to be a really really short post. I've posted this because my

blog has been bumped. And one of my resolutions was to write reviews of Doctor Who episodes. And I need somewhere to do that. And the series has started again.

However, looking at this, it may be more effort than it's worth.

Blog . com does have a rather hard to use editor, and dashboard. I'll see if I can sort out this whole fonts thing and get the panel page bookmarked.

I leave with a quote, spoken by a truly great human..oid.

"I'm back. And I'm bad. Obviously within certain preset parameters." ~ Kryten

Perplex City event - Ascendancy Point

A quick poem I wrote regarding Tuesday night's Ascendancy Point event in Perplex City. YAY for bad poems!

On Thirtieth of January,
when night fell round the land,
Kurt and Vi went to the Point
to give Scarlett a hand.

On the way they met poor Caine,
who, speculation said,
would end up messing up their plans,
but he went and helped, instead.

Inside they got, and first we had,
to confuse the systems so.
We played a game of Mastermind
before the team could go.

And then they split, to aid their cause,
Kurt, Fitch, and Caine (Team A).
Vi and Frye and Harrison,
did go the other way.

Team B came across a guard,
with video feeds, sublime.
Unfortunately, lag was high,
so that took some time.

Meanwhile, team A needed us,
to call, and to persuade.
This we did, eventually,
and the day was saved.

But as team A was nearing the end,
a guard stood in their way.
Oh what, oh what were they to do?
But then Caine saved the day.

Both teams met up, their missions done,
Ready for the end.
Hopefully, they would reach their goal,
and be able to help their friend.

Floor 110, at last,
and here the Third Power was seen.
One last puzzle, to test our worth,
to enter bay 17.

Harrison climbed in the vents,
and set up our way in.
But oops, it seems there's an error,
we need more puzzles to win.

More puzzles solved, the lights go out,
we hear only noise.
Vi and Helena were both ready,
and so were all three boys.

In they rushed, with single shots,
and then it was a blur.
Something happened, shots were fired,
it all caused quite a stir.

Six were killed, on that night.
They will all be missed.
Except for sneaky Third Power guys,
who'll probably be quite pissed.

Harrison, and Fishcook, also paid the price.
But Caine and Scarlett were okay..
As well as they could be.
They'll live, apparently, anyway.

Oh Harrison, Oh Harrison,
you will be missed I know,
by all at the PCPD,
but it was your time to go.

Scarlett, Kurt, Caine, and even Vi,
will live another day,
Without them, to be honest,
it wouldn't be much of a story, anyway.

"Oh Lettie! Lettie!" cries Vi,
her tears streaming down her face.
But now it was the time to leave,
and get out of this place.

It turns out Caine was there as well,
tortured by the Power.
But in the end, he was a real help,
and was truly a hero of the hour.

So off they went, to hospital,
where Scarlett sits right now,
Hopefully the Third Power,
Will stay away, somehow.

The final thing to happen, friends,
the final clue, hooray!
And we find out it's buried here,
England, upon the Way.

Hopefully, perhaps very soon,
the Cube may just change hands,
and then, my friends, we'll raise a toast,
to the best Cube hunter in the land.

Anyway, anybody that cares will notice I've not blogged for.. a while.

This is because I officially have a Wii. Yes, I do. It's also partly due to the fact that there's been nothing to blog about. I'm still working hard on my Computing, electronics, physics, maths, etc... Blah.

Okay, show's over.

(Also, my rival got an A on task 1. I got a B. Ooh, you win this time.. *twitch*

Me: 2
Rival: 2

Grr.)

Say It If It's Worth Saving Me

Everything's getting a bit hectic now.  The link to Perplex City has reopened, and through it seems to be sucking all my free time.  We have contact with our Perplexian friends again, and they're updating faster than ever in order, seemingly to make up for the past three month's lack of activity.  And what a busy few days it's been - Sente's been arrested, Kurt's been fired, Scarlett's been kidnapped... So basically, a lot's happened.

The "Cube Retrieval Team" on Earth has also been getting strange messages, from the Third Power, the schneeky group that's trying to find the Cube before us.  Something about them having something..  And the latest one, received today, says:

19012701215
To Earth operatives: Package aboard, in transit to secure facility. Not long now.

No idea what this could mean.. But it may have something to do with yesterday's received message:

18012700448
To Earth operatives
We have gained access
A genuine non-repro Earth artefact dating from the time of the original theft has been discovered, confirming our initial hypothesis.
Our contact will schedule package pick up tomorrow.
Earth teams on standby - anticipate successful completion imminently

The plot continues.

Meanwhile, on the school front, I've been given a whole load more work to do.  I was leafing through a C1, C2, and S1 text book (Those are the AS maths modules), and they didn't look like the same syllabus that I did with the other exam board.  So I've been given the text books, and I've got to go through those and make sure I understand them for next year.  Ugh.  Still, not all bad news.  It also turns out that I've already done about 3/4 of the S2 work, which is next years Statistics module, in the S1 module of my previous exam board.  So next year's going to be nice and easy in pure maths =)

I've also been looking into open days at Aberystwyth, but strangely they only seem to accept open days from students that have already applied.  I know, it makes absolutely no sense to me either.  And I can't apply until mid-September, meaning that I can't go on an open day until next February. o_O;

In Computing, I have completed task 2, and task 3 parts a-c.  This is important for me to state repeatedly, because if I don't keep telling myself that, then I'll just keep redoing and redoing them.  No, I have completed them, and am NEVER EVER GOING TO LOOK AT THEM AGAIN.  Right, now that's sorted out.  I'm also the class swot in Computing, it seems.  I'm the only person that understands programming, think it through logically and can write structured codes, rather than just making a random collection of statements that doesn't work as a program.  So I'm the one that has to go around the class helping other people.  *sigh* The price of being good, eh?

I've ordered the three Torchwood novels from Amazon.  So those are going to be my first reads on my big 50-books-in-a-year list.  I should get through them all pretty quickly.

So, my 50 books for the year so far:

1) Another Life [Torchwood] - Peter Anghelides
2) Border Princes [Torchwood] - Dan Abnett
3) Slow Decay [Torchwood] - Andrew Lane

I'm also still waiting for Final Fantasy III for the DS that I ordered a few weeks ago.  *sigh*.

Mmm, this post's been very long, I should probably end it soon.  Actually, yeah, I will.  But first, I'll leave you with an awesome song, by Nickelback.

Nickelback - Savin' Me

Enjoy.

I'VE FAAAILED! I'VE FAAAILED!

Ugh.

I had my Mechanics exam earlier today. And it was the strangest exam I've ever taken.  There was a strange and horrible anxious nervousness before it that I've never felt before, I normally just appear and do the whole exam perfectly happily and generally end up failing. Perhaps this year I really am paying more attention to my exams.

And then during the thing.. Well.  I'm normally finished with an exam [As was the case with all mocks that we did] within about 30 minutes, and then have to spend the rest of the 1:30 time period just sitting there with nothing to do.  But this was most different.  It was horrible, the time was going so much faster than normal.  I also had a small panic attack with 30 minutes to go, when I wasn't even half way through the paper.

Still, I did it.  I didn't have as much time as I'd have liked on the final questions [I think I dropped most of my marks on the last part alone], but I did finish, and I used 16 sides of paper, which is unusual for me.

My initial reaction tells me that I may have dropped only about 5 marks (On the final couple of parts), which would give me 67/72.  I'll be safe and estimate that I've got around 65/72 - A nice safe 90%.

I'll just point out that on EVERY SINGLE mock exam we've done so far for Mechanics, I've gotten 66/72 [91.67%].  On EVERY SINGLE ONE.  The same mark.

I'm hoping this one won't be any different.  91.67% would be most excellent.

I think there's a 95% chance that I've got an A, anyway, which is the best mark really.

One more exam to go. Friday, 2:15, Physics.

[Also, for the record, my rival finished way before me.  I so do hope I've beaten him.]

Actually, speaking of my rival.. Monday in Computing, I was waaay ahead of him with my task 3.  So hoorah, I'm counting that as another point for me. *nods*

Exams.. And Universities.. and Stuff

Ack, exams. Big exams. In 6 and 8 days. [Wednesday and Friday of next week].

Well, I'm going back to school today. Electronics and Mechanics. So I reckon I'll be spending most of Mechanics being revised at, and most of Electronics being ahead of everyone else. C'est la vie. I love Thursdays.

Also, yes. I have exams next week, thanks for asking. Mechanics [Wed] and Physics [Fri].

Mechanics is all about dynamics, SUVAT equations, projectiles, vectors...
Physics is all about dynamics, SUVAT equations, projectiles, vectors... conservation of energy, deformation of solids, and spring extensions.

So I figure that if I just revise for Mechanics, I'll get it all right. Yeah, that's about right.

Anyway, I spent the whole night looking at universities online, determined to not go to Bolton university [On the advice of my great uncle], in order to be "independant" and "live on my own" without being in the same town as Grandma. ...Yeah. You know how they say where there's a will there's a way? Well I willed to not go to Bolton, but clearly the universe hates me. The only good course I can find is in Bolton University. *sigh*

http://www.bolton.ac.uk/courses/course_display.asp?single=bsc_cgsd&mode=single&template=university

Well, I suppose if I get accomodation near the university, I can.. pretend it's a new town. Yeah. *nods* That's what I'll do.

Also, is it wrong to worry and be scared about something that's over 1.7 years away?

That's all. I leave you with a drabble, based on challenge #147 of the DW100 drabble community [A drabble is a short 100 word story] which is "Ice and Snow".

"Right! Earth, here we are then!" the Doctor said, excitedly, to Rose. "Ice age! One step out there like that and you'll freeze to death, go get changed!"

Rose ran off to the wardrobe room, while the Doctor looked outside through the scanner screen. Glaciers everywhere, a completely white scene. A scene that no human alive had ever seen. Rose ran back in, dressed in a snow jacket. She smiled at the Doctor, and then ran to open the doors, to see the icy scene she had been promised. The doors were opened, and…

…A perfectly healthy green field.

“…Ah…”

How was 2006?

ARGH.

Yes. This is the FOURTH time Mr Meacham has marked my homework/test wrong. -.-

So I say to you: I got 100%. No matter what he says.

ONE lesson to go before the end of school. And it's Computing. Huzzah.

The results of my last Mechanics test are in, as well. 64/72. My rival got 40/72. I wish this counted, but it wasn't in Computing, and we're not officially rivals in Maths. Dang. Second highest mark in the class, the top one got 66/72 -.-

But oh, I shall beat him.

Apart from that: Had a boring physics lesson, HATE Mr Meacham, etc.

I hope my Computing teacher doesn't come snooping around this blog. I sent him an email, so he has the 'mindez' bit. *hides*

Yes, anyway. This is a bit of a non-blog-entry. It's a bit rambly. I'm hoping to write a nice article on ARGs and their attraction, tomorrow. Possibly.

I highly doubt I will.

(Also, apparently my Computing teacher was looking for me today. I hope it's not anything bad e.E)

A trailer!

Gah, sorry for not posting today. Or being online at all. My ISP broke. So I lost my internets, damned internet pixies hiding them. BUT I found them all again, so it's alright.

So, short blog as I must get to sleep. Think of it as a trailer.

A trailer to what, you may ask. And you may well get answers. A trailer to my next blog post, to be made at around 13:30 tomorrow.

And what shall be in this blog?*

- Me!
- A review of Torchwood episode 10!
- Bitching and ranting about christmas!
- My Computing teacher's reaction to me having finished the next 3 months of homework in under 2 hours!
- More bitching and ranting about how much I hate free periods at my college!
- Whatever else I can think of to write about!

*gasp* Coming to a browser near you, VERY soon!

Wow at comments

Wow at the number of comments I received yesterday. I'm sure it was a fluke, rather than people ACTUALLY liking me, but still. THANKS TO YOU ALL!

Hoorah.

Today, I watched "An Unearthly Child", the first ever Doctor Who story. (*cough* http://vids.tamino.co.uk/eps/001.php *cough*).

Anyway, apart from doing that (And watching Doctor Who for almost 2 hours straight), I've not done much today. Oh, except I did my Computing homework yesterday, and when I say "did my Computing homework", I mean "did every single Computing homework for the next 3 months". In the space of an hour and a half. And it was surprisingly fun. I love algorithms.

Still, that's going to cause me a lot of boredom over the next three months. Only 3 days (Or 6 lessons) left until the end of school for the year! 2 Computing, 1 Further Maths, 2 Electronics, and 1 Physics.

Also, one of my Electronics/Physics teachers sucks. I'm not going to mention Mr Meacham's name here, but he really sucks. Our electronics lesson is going to go on for the full time on Tuesday, even though EVERY SINGLE other class finishes at 3:30 on Tuesday. But nooo, he's MAKING us stay in until 4:30. Agh. I hate him. And he always -ALWAYS- marks my homework wrong. And then when I point this out, just says "..I can't be bothered with this now." and "Why do you do this to me?" - Well, maybe I have to do it to you BECAUSE YOU MARK MY HOMEWORK WRONG.

*sighs*

Anyway, I could rant on all day about Mr. Meacham whom I shall not name. And I don't actually hold it against him for making us stay in on Tuesday, but I -DO- hold it against him for having taught us exactly the same thing every single lesson since the beginning of term, and marking my homework wrong. (I have him for one Electronics and one Physics a week. My other Electronics/Physics teacher is awesome, though.)

The Hogfather is on TV tomorrow. I can't wait to watch it. Also Torchwood episode 10. Also Codex. Also Lost.

Wow, that's a lot of things on TV tomorrow. and my Sky+ can only record Torchwood, because anything recorded on Channel 4 or Sky One (Or the Sci-Fi Channel, but there's nothing good on that tomorrow) completely borks up, and keeps skipping, doesn't play audio, etc. It's terrible.

Boo for unprepared maths tests.

Ya. Boo for unprepared maths tests.

I'm sure we were never told about it. But I was the only one that didn't remember it, so I guess I'll let the teacher off. Imaginary numbers is a silly topic, anyway. It's as if someone stood up one day and shouted "I KNOW! Maths isn't a crappy enough subject yet. There just AREN'T ENOUGH NUMBERS. Let's invent some more!", and thus the topic of Imaginary Numbers was created.

But anyway, Yes. Big test on imaginary numbers. And I think, on the whole, I've done quite well. Except for the last part of the last question. I couldn't--Wait, why am I telling you this? You don't know the question. And I'm pretty sure you don't care about imaginary numbers.

*sighs* I'm talking to myself again.

I also got the results for my Computing test today, as well. 61/90. The best in the class, by about 20 marks. HAH. Take that, rival (Who got only 40/90)! I'm the only person in the whole class that doesn't have to come back and repeat the test. *victory!*

Mindez: 1
Rival: 1 (For being further ahead than him in the Pascal book, a while ago)

Ah well. I'm gaining ground, again.

But enough about tests! Tests suck. Lets talk about me!

You all must go and read this blog post: http://loupgarou.blog.com/1361091/ - It's a most excellent review of my blog. I love it. It's my favourite of all LoupGarou's blog posts! *gasp* Now I just have to hope it doesn't have some underlying encoded "MINDEZ SUCKS" message hidden in the text. That would certainly be my luck.

*sniffsniff*

Ooh, I smell that my Southern Fried Chicken is cooked.

*runs off!*

COMMENT! I NEED NOURISHMENT!
